Florida Pascual Abiva, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in Stevenson Ranch California Born in Kahuku, Hawaii, she spent her life nurturing her family, serving her community, and leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Florida was more than just a volunteer at the local public school; she was affectionately known as “Grandma” by the young children she cared for. Her warmth, patience, and unwavering attention made her a cherished figure in their lives. She believed in the power of education and dedicated countless hours to ensuring that every child felt seen and loved.
Her greatest pride was her family. Florida’s love extended to her children: Ernesto, Delia, Conchita, Carmen, Norma, Romeo, Andy, Arlene, and Gloria. She reveled in their accomplishments, celebrated their joys, and provided unwavering support during their trials. Her 11 grandchildren: Louie, Errol, Billy, Michael, Ace, Pamela, Nida, Justin, Christine, Corey, Zachary and 13 great grandchildren: Deisha, Cj, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Leilani, Joel, Sebastian, Theodore, Archibald, Kailani, Nalu, Celeste, Ronin were her heart’s delight, and she regaled them with stories, laughter, and homemade treats.
Florida’s kitchen was a haven of love. Her table was always open, and no one left hungry or without a warm smile. But it was Florida’s selflessness that truly defined her. She gave without expecting anything in return, whether it was a comforting hug, a listening ear, or a helping hand. Her acts of kindness rippled through her community, touching hearts and inspiring others to follow her example.
In her quiet moments, Florida reflected on her late husband, Matias, and her daughter, Felina, who had gone before her and her father, Cornelio. Their memories remained etched in her heart, and she found solace in the thought of reuniting with them.
As we bid farewell to Florida Pascual Abiva, we remember her as a beacon of love, resilience, and compassion. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched. May her spirit continue to inspire us all to be kind, generous, and fiercely devoted to our loved ones.
