Frances Aiko Yamashita Souza's Obituary
Frances Aiko Yamashita Souza passed away peacefully on June 20, 2016. On June 13th, she celebrated her 97th birthday. Born in Wailuku Maui, she was the daughter of Tomikichi and Mary Coelho Yamashita. Frances was the fourth eldest of ten children.
Frances graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute and St. Francis School of Nursing in Honolulu with Honors. She met her husband Arthur F. Souza while attending nursing school, and they were married for 62 wonderful years. Arthur passed away in 2006. They had four children, Deidra Pinho (deceased); Arthur Jr.; Jill Zodrow; and Robyn Cole.
While being a loving wife and mother, Frances also dedicated herself to a professional calling as a registered nurse serving as the Director and clinic nurse at the Pearl Harbor Naval Supply Center Dispensary, a night supervisor and surgical nurse at St. Francis Hospital as well as for physicians in private practice.
Besides her three children, Frances is also survived by eight grandchildren and two sisters:
