I was a baseball teammate of Fred while we were players on the Midwest League affiliate for the San Francisco Giants, Decatur Commodores in 1973. I was a catcher on that team that had four pitchers, of which Fred was one, who would appear in the major leagues later. Fred was a great teammate and always friendly. He always had a humble, even keel personality and was a poised and confident competitor. Fred was really one of the good people I was fortunate enough to know in those young enchanted years we shared.
