Gary Takashi Nojima's Obituary
Celebrating the life of Gary Takashi Nojima, 70, of Kailua, Hawaii, who passed away on March 3, 2015. Born on August 30, 1944 in Honolulu and lived there until his passing in Kailua. He was the fourth of seven children born to Kyohei Nojima and Matsue Shimata.
He attended Castle High School and the U. S. Army Engineer School. After graduation, he began a career as a mason with the Masons of Hawaii and eventually retired from the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam war. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was married to Darlene Ann Kipi on December 4, 1969 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Kailua. After retirement, he traveled and spent time with his two grandchildren.
His most important events in his life were his marriage to his wife, Darlene, birth of his daughter, Darnelle, and the birth of his two grandchildren, Emily and Matthew. He was a very loving, kind, generous, thoughtful and helpful man. His favorite past times were traveling, listening to country music and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by wife, Darlene Ann Nojima; daughter, Darnelle (Craig) Chung; granddaughter, Emily Chung; grandson, Matthew Chung; and sister, Hedy (Craig) Miyata.
Visitation to his celebration of life service will be from 5:30-9:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Family requests no flowers.
