George Edward Gallagher's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of George E. Gallagher, born September 9, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey. His parents were George and Madeline Gallagher; he was the eldest of three children. He was a retired tour guide with Trans Hawaiian. After retirement, he enjoyed helping others when he worked at Volkswagen and Ala Moana Ford and at Trans Hawaiian as a tour guide and driver. He lived in Kaimuki. He was married to Ruth on August 23, 1958 at Our Lady of Peace Basilica.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was a Lector and song Leader at St. Patrick’s Church from 1970-1985. He served in the United States Marine Corps @ Lualualei from July 1954 to July 1957; where he received his National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
At the end of his life (his last three months) he wrote the words, “I AM AT PEACE” on anything he had at his fingertips.
His most important events were his marriage to Ruth and the birth of his s children. He was a fun loving, prayerful, thoughtful, supportive and appreciative man who enjoyed spending time at the beach and spending time with his wife. He enjoyed listening to Gregorian Chant and Hawaiian music.
He is survived by wife, Ruth Y. Gallagher; sons, George (Lin) Gallagher, Jr., Paul (Patrice) Gallagher, Ian (Haunani) Gallagher and Kevin (Mila) Gallagher; daughters, Petra (Ron) Pombo and Marie (Byron Scott) Cox; brother, Charles (Cheryl) Gallagher; three grandchildren, Cameron Cox, Sherrie Gallagher and Kyle Gallagher.
Visitation to his celebration service will be held from 4:00-5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; service to begin at 5:00 p.m.; private committal services.
