George Ayau Kam Jr.'s Obituary
George "Fatso " Ayau KAM, Jr. passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the age of 94 years. He was born on July 12, 1929, to the late George & Minnie Kam. His two sisters, Evelyn Liu & Lulu Yee, have also passed; but he is survived by his younger brother, Arthur Roland Kam. On December 9, 1950, he married his beloved Pearl Abigail Thompson.
She passed 20 years ago. He is survived by their two children: son, George Ill (wife, Sharmaine) and daughter, Wenonah-Mae (husband, David Apao); three grandchildren -- Keoki, Kami, and Haunani; and also two great grandchildren--Kamren & Karli. George attended St. Louis School, worked as a switchman at Hawaiian
Telephone Company for 38 years and volunteered 30 years at the Nuuanu YMCA teaching members the art of speed bag boxing. He was born on Oahu, lived in various areas of Kalihi, and only travelled to our other islands for his hobbies. He thoroughly enjoyed various activities: hunting wild game, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, crabbing, cooking, repairing nets, macrame crafts, etc. His health was generally good, but as the years passed his body and hearing took its toll. In celebration of a life well-lived, George's funeral will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Diamond Head Mortuary; 535 1 8th Avenue; Honolulu, HI 96816. Visitation from 9-10 a.m., Services from 1 0-1 1 a.m., Reception from 1 1 a.m. - 12 p.m., and Burial @ Section AA at 12:30 p.m.
