George K. Kawelo Jr.'s Obituary
George K. "Turtle" Kawelo, Jr. Age 70, of Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away peacefully on October 14, 2018 at his home in Kahalu'u surrounded by his loving family and friends. "Turtle" as he was known by his family and friends was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late George K. Kawelo Sr. and Lena Ching Kawelo and raised in Kahalu'u, Pakole, Oahu. He retired as a pipe fitter with the City & County of Honolulu Board of Water Supply in 1994. He also was a fisherman aboard the aku boat "Nisei" for years. He enjoyed diving, fishing, traveling (cruises and Las Vegas), playing cards, word search puzzles, watching the UH Wahine volleyball, football, basketball games, boxing UFC fights and watching old western movies. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. George is survived by his wife Noreen Kawelo; daughters Billie and Stacy; son Keoni; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-granddaughters; step-daughters Tara Tamashiro, Megan (Travis) Tsuda; step-son Asher Tamashiro; 11 step-grandchildren and 1 step great-granddaughter. Sisters: Lena "Ipolani" Johnson, Naomi (Moses) Kalauokalani, Sandy "Nani" (James) Bassett; brothers Galbraith "Gabby" (Janet) and Warren "Doc" (Thelma) Kawelo and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary followed by services at 11:00 am. Ashes will be scattered.
