Gilbert Rivera Sr.'s Obituary
Gilbert Rivera, Sr., 78, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at his residence. Gilbert was born to Gregorio Rivera and Augusta Lopes in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii on April 11, 1938. Gilbert was a bus driver for the City and County of Honolulu.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Rivera; son, Gilbert Rivera, Jr.; daughters, Vanessa (Jacob) Ahue, Tammy (Sam) Ellis, Michelle Rivera and Cathy Grace; step-brother, Rodney (Toni) Rodrigues; hanai sons, Michael (Janey) Austin and Sam Ching; sisters, Deborah Navas and Sylvia (Robert) Beach of Missouri; hanai brother, Bobbie (Darnell) Kailau; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service for Gilbert will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary (located at 45-425 Kamehameha Highway Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744); visitation from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.; wake service to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Additional service to be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; service to begin at 11:30 a.m.; burial to follow 2:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter with Military Honors to be rendered.
Gilbert will be truly missed by all his family and friends. He will forever be in everyone’s hearts and memories. A man loved by many!
