Hajime "Haji" Ueda's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Hajime “Haji” Ueda, age 92, of Pahala Ka'u, Hawaii passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born on October 6, 1921 in Ka’u Hawaii, to Kanezo Ueda and Shizuka Udo. He was the oldest of 5 children. He retired in 1986 after serving 49 years with Ka’u Sugar Plantation as a Service Truck Driver. He lived in Pahala, Hawaii. Married to Jane Mizuno on February 11,1950. He was a member of Pahala Hongwanji. He was involved with American Legion Post 3. He served in the United States Army service from 1944 to 1946 during WWII "442nd Regiment and received the following medal Congressional Medal of Honor. His favorite hobby was fishing. Hajime is survived by his wife, Jane Sumie Ueda; sons, Clayton, Jerome (Nancy), Lane and Lance Ueda; daughter, Jan (Castle) Ueda-Waiolama; sisters, Toshino Mitsushima and Clara (Peter) Kamachi; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
His services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. and Buddhist service will begin at 12noon. Inurnment will be 2:00p.m. at Hawaii State Veteran Cemetery; casual attire.
