Harold Dean Martin 's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Harold Dean Martin, born December 11, 1959 in Honolulu, Hawaii. To John J. Martin and Andrea K. Martin. He was the first child out of 5 and attended Waianae High School. After graduation he began his career in 1979 as a chef in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1996 after serving 17 years as an E-5. While serving in the Navy he received many medals and ribbons, the Navy Battle “E” ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Harold lived in many places, Makaha, Kailua, Kalihi, Aiea, Honolulu, Wahiawa, Pearl City, Alameda (CA), and San diego (CA). He married Barbara L. Kanohokula on August 22, 1991 at Kaala View Baptist Church, Waianae. He believed that “God is Good. God is Great.” He had many friends but one special friend of his was Clarence Medeiros. His most important events in life were joining the Military service, the birth of his children, his marriage to Barbara, and the removal of his head tumor. Harold was a strong, determined, devoted, loving, and caring person. He enjoyed fixing automobiles, cooking, fishing, and crabbing. His favorite music was Hawaiian and Puerto Rican. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Joshua (Leisha) and Harold Jr.; daughters, ShyAnne and JuliAnn; grandsons, Rayson Martin-Velez and Jaydon Maring; mother, Andrea; brothers, John “Dino” (Edna) Jr. and Carlos (Susan) Martin and Mike Lester; sisters, Kalei (Brian) Freitas and Nena Martin; grandfather, George (Mariann) Baker.
His services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; Visitation: 10:15a.m.- 10:45a.m.; Service: 10:45a.m.; Burial: 2:00p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
