Louise Saffery
Dear Dave, Scott, and Kim,
I met Harriet when she was principal of Wailupe Valley Elementary School and my son was in kindergarten. Through the years our paths have crossed many times and most of the time I was asking her for advice. She was wise, intuitive, kind and caring. Our biggest joke was not to be near Harriet when she wanted something done because you could not say "no" to her. She "roped you into things (i.e., president of the PTSA at Wailupe), and you were honored to do work for her. She could sense when you needed help, or were sad, or confused and she offered words of wisdom and comfort. When I needed a recommendation for an elementary school for my grandchild she was there with suggestions, or a middle school for our son - you could count on her.
I was saddened to hear of her passing, but I will always hold fond memories of her and the generous and caring help she extended to me.
Aloha,
Louise Saffery
