Helen Muriel Rosa's Obituary
Helen Rosa (Ainslie), was born on August 30, 1931 in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, Canada to Ernest Ainslie and Irene Cottam. 84, of Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Aloha Nursing and Rehab Centre in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
She was the second oldest of three children. She lived in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, Canada until 1957. She attended Mill Village Primary school, Shubenacadie Secondary school and Truro Academy for 12th grade.
Helen earned her degree the following degree as a Registered Nurse from Halifax Children’s Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. After graduation she began her career as a nurse at Colchester General Hospital in Truro, Nova Scotia. She then worked in Calgary, Alberta at Calgary Holy Cross Hospital. She traveled to Hawaii where she worked at Saint Francis Hospital.
She resided in Kaneohe, Hawaii and was married to Maitland Rosa on June 24, 1961 at Central Union Church. She was a member of Parker Methodist Church and taught Sunday school and volunteered as an usher. She was a kind, caring, creative, soft spoken and gentle woman. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, volunteering at church. Her favorite song was Old Rugged Cross.
She is survived by son, Keith Rosa; daughters, Cindy (Ed) Abe and Charlene (Walter) Keamo; brother, Ross (Isabelle) Ainslie, sister, Joyce Baker; seven grandchildren, Jessica Rosa, Amber Brennan, Alicia Miller, Angela Miller, Jeffrey Keamo, Tiffany Keamo, and Hailey Keamo.
Visitation: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary Chapel; Service to begin at 10:30 a.m., with a burial to follow: 1:00 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
