Hi Sun Choe's Obituary
Hi Sun Choe, age 100, passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2024. She was born on December 8th, 1923 in Seoul, Korea. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ho Nam Park, her daughter, Pok Sun McMahon and her grandson, Robert Lee Gentry. She is survived by her daughter, In Sun Crispen and her son, Song Su Park, her four grandchildren, Suzanne Matel, Shanna Hamner, Sherri Cruz-Barry and Patrick Park and her six great-grandchildren, Andrew Matel, Aaron Matel, Kyle Schinkel, Kamryn Hamner, Makenzie Barry and Madalyn Barry. She was a devout Catholic all of her life and a long time member of the Korean Catholic Church - Hawaii, where she donated her time volunteering anywhere there was a need. Hi Sun spent the first part of her life in Seoul, Korea then moved to the island of Oahu in her early 60's, where she became a Hawaii resident and U.S. Citizen and lived out the rest of her years. She was an expert in crafting Korean cuisine, her culinary talent led her to owning her own restaurant in Seoul, Korea for many years. Her hobby was traveling to new places and visiting her grandchildren. She will be forever missed, fondly and lovingly remembered as a nurturing, caring mother and grandmother. 할머니, 당신은 영원히 우리 마음 속에 있을 것입니다, 우리는 당신을 사랑합니다 (Halmeoni, you will forever be in our hearts, we love you).
