Hipolito D. Gonzales' Obituary
Hipolito Rodolfo Gonzales went HOME to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 87.
Surrounded by all his family who loved him so deeply and dearly, Hipolito was ushered into the arms of Jesus on May 12, 2022.
Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte on Jan. 29, 1935 to Andres & Enrica Gonzales, he grew up in the Philippines where he met the love of his life, Erlinda. It was love at first sight & stayed strong until this day. They celebrated their 64th anniversary together 2 weeks before he went home to be with Jesus. Family was always his number one priority and enjoyed his time here on earth with his loving wife, Erlinda and 5 children, Enrica (Mickey), Wilmer (Lyn), Rodelyn, Carolina (Samuel) & Lani (Brandon). Grandchildren, Amber, Matthew, Joshua, Brittany, Kainoa, Rachel, Angie, Brooke & Hailee and Great Grandchildren, Kaia & Bennett were also the joys of his life. Hipolito was the oldest of 5 siblings: Jose Gonzales (Josephine - predeceased), Zamora (Eriberto) Nieves, Jaime (Clarissa) Gonzales, Jesse (Perlita) Gonzales.
Although Hipolito grew up in the Philippines, he knew he wanted something more for his family. He came to Hawaii in 1966 to join his dad with hopes of finding a job that would provide for the family. He learned to be a steel worker and worked for Hawaiian Reinforcing Steel Company. Hipolito was a hard worker and quickly moved up to become a Foreman. He retired from Hawaiian Reinforcing at the age of 58 but continued to work many side jobs... mainly building homes. Hipolito was an eager and quick learner. He managed to learn enough skills to be able to build 4 of our family homes... including numerous additions and renovations. He was everyone’s go-to for anything that needed repair. Anyone who knew him will be agree that he was a very hard-working, giving, unselfish and intelligent man. Although quiet and soft spoken, His strength and dedication spoke volumes for his love for family and others. If anything needed fixing... he was there quickly and ready to work. Along with his love for building homes and fixing things, he also enjoyed gardening. Although dearly missed and loved, Hipolito now enjoys the best gardens, views and dwellings at HOME in heaven.
