While sitting in church today I reflected on my LDS mision to Santiago Chile. This prompted me to search for my mission President and his Wife. My heart broke to find the news that President Holbrook had passed away. I have seldom met a man with more love for others. The joy I feel knowing that his physical body no longer holds him back from the missionary work that he was so dedicated to is my only condolence. " PILI" Presidente Dupont

I had no idea Burt had passed away. I was at some friends house the other night and - just by happenstance - the daughter of Marvin Gardner came over. She asked where my wife was from and when she said Colombia she started to said her parents had served missions there. Long story short, we made the connection and she told me that Burt had passed away. She reminded me of one of Burts fave jokes. He always said he married the "Wong" women. I remember hearing that many times. Time flies so quickly. We loved our time with you all in Colombia and remember with fondness Rama V and the baptism of Burts father in that very cold baptismal font behind the chapel. Much love to you all.
Truly a great man! I only met you for a short while while visiting Hawaii with my family. You and your wife gave us the best tour we could have possibly had, in your own van, and you wouldn't even allow me to pay you for gas. I am truly grateful for your hospitality and your incredible example. Thanks for the impact that you have had on me and my family. Dear Amanda and Family, We deeply regret being unable to attend Bert's funeral. We had high hopes of being there. I will never forget the good times when Bert would make me part of his crew on globe-trotting Air Force missions. Without a doubt he was the best pilot of the hundreds I flew with. Our children have always considered you both their favorite aunt and uncle while growing up with your family at Charleston AFB and in Hawaii. We will never forget yours and his aloha. I honestly believed that he would be around for the millenium but Heavenly Father had other plans. I can't help but think that his physical calling of being one of the Directors of Operations in the Air Force will become his spiritual calling on the other side of the veil. I was saddened to learn of President DuPont's passing. I have many fond memories of him and Sister DuPont in Santiago, Chile. President and Sister Dupont were my "life savers"as a young girl in Bogota in the 70's.Muchas gracias por todo.After being apart and reuiting with them last February was "not by coincidence".He greeted me with that same twinkle in his eye and warm Hawaiian hug I remembered over 40 years ago.It seemed that we were never apart.I will always treasure our days in Hawaii and getting reacquainted.Mahalo for the gift of love in getting me a ukulele. I am so sad to hear of the passing of this wonderful man. I remember the many times he dressed and played the part of different characters for the church. His powerful testimony and the way he lived his life. No doubt he lived the Saviors teachings. I will miss him during the tri-ward Halloween Parties, and the christmas decorations he always put up for all the wards to use. But I will mostly miss the interactions of Bro. & Sis. DuPont. We had such faith that Bert would be around until he had reached the age of his mother - 92 yrs old. No doubt he was willing to stay for Amanda, his family, and the thousands of friends like us whose lives are better because of his example and influence. We are sad that Heavenly Father called him home because he was such a fixture in our lives. At the same time we rejoice in the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ including eternal covenants. We love thinking about Bert's missionary work and gospel lessons to those on the other side of the veil. Can't you just picture him teaching them about Capt. Moroni? We will forever be grateful for Bert and Amanda, for their lovingkindness and Christ-like love that they gave to us.
