Irene Kui Yin Ching's Obituary
Irene Kui Yin Kong Ching, 85, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She was born on September, 11, 1930 in Keauhou, North Kona, Hawaii. She was the youngest of five children born to Kong Fat and Elsie Liu.
She attended Konawaena High School. After graduation, she went to beauty school, and then began her career as a maternity ward clerk with Castle Medical Center. She worked there for 22 years, and then retired in 1987.
She enjoyed singing parts of a Christian song, “Jesus Loves Me Because He Told Me So” and liked listening to Hawaiian, 70’s and 80’s music. She was active and involved with her High School Reunion. She enjoyed exercising at the Kailua pool and visits with her childhood friends.
Her family meant a lot to her. The important events in her life were her marriage to her husband in 1952 and having her four children. She was proud to say that her Mom and brothers took care of her when she was growing up. She enjoyed visits from her brothers before they passed away.
She is survived by husband, Lawrence Wah Piu Ching; sons, Reuben H. C. Ching, Milton H. K. (Ivy Bal) Ching, and Clifton H. K. Ching; and three grandchildren.
Committal Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
