Irene Cabalo Funtanilla's Obituary
Irene Cabalo Funtanilla, 88, of Honolulu (Kalihi), Hawaii passed away December 15, 2018. She was born on August 23, 1930 in Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to Sixto and Francisca (née Cabotaje) Cabalo. Irene married Jose Funtanilla on May 4, 1952 in Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She worked at Pacific Sausages Company for over 10 years before her retirement. Irene was a homemaker for her family and after retirement was involved in raising her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and her motto was “Trust in God!” Some of the most important events in her life were the birth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was a tenacious, proud, feisty woman of integrity. She loved to cook and sing, and enjoyed watching ultimate volleyball, Golden Girls, and General Hospital.
Irene is survived by four children, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband and one son.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 9:30 am with Mass at 10:30 am at St. Philomena’s Catholic Church in Honolulu (Salt Lake), HI. Interment will follow at Valley of the Temples at 2:00 pm.
