My "Grandpa", which I used to call him, was truly a wonderful person. Im glad that we got to spend happy times together for 16 months as his caregiver. He used to call me "Paz", his wife's name. He never called me by my name. I will surely miss the days when we go church together, eat at Zippys, order his favorite mahi mahi fish. Grandpa and my baby used to play together. I remember him teaching baby how to count from 1-5 when she just turned 1. I will miss him dearly, and never forget him.His memories will always remain in my heart forever. In death, life is changed, not ended. It is only the beginning of a more perfect and beautiful, everlasting life. Grandpa, you are safely home in Heaven now, someday we will meet again.
To the Espaniola family, losing someone is never easy. You have to lean on your faith, God has a bigger purpose for nus. We pray the love of God enfolds you during your difficult times.
Our deepest condolences,
Chris, Myda Vila and family

Uncle Smiley was a remarkable man who had many talents and skill. I remember him practicing Escrima in the living room and it looked like the bamboo sticks were moving over his body all by themselves. When you walked through the door the first thing he would ask is if you were hungry, you could never leave his home hungry. His banana pancakes were the best and I ate more than my share. Though he never got angry I would laugh when he expressed his frustration with Dennis...it was funny if you know what I'm talking about.
Uncle, I know there is a special place in heaven for you...thank you and Rest in Peace.
Uncle Smiley introduced me to Kempo Karate during the 60's which helped me build confidence. Also, he always brought banana pie on Sunday mornings to our home in Waipahu as a treat for our family. Until this day I've always crave for banana pie. I believe everyone should have an Uncle Smiley in the family. He just loved family, from the youngest niece/nephew to the eldest member of the family......he was such a joy to be around........Aloha! Alan Cuales in New Mexico.
My father in law for 42 years, I will always remember your kindness to everyone, any your willingness to share all that you had, your dedication to your family showed your heart. The act of kindness to all your helpfulness, in all that you did you always went beyond the calling. The scripture of Love in Corinthians : Love Bears All Things, Believes all things, Hope all things, endures all things, Faith, Hope, Love the Greatest of them all is Love, comes to my mind, because that is what you always showed in your actions , Dad you lived your Life in Love and that is what Jesus Christ wants us to do while we are here on earth, and In you humble way that is what you did with your life here on earth. I know that your last Breath on Earth is your First Breath in Heaven. May we all remember your kindness, I know I will you showed me how to Love unconditionally. I will miss you Dearly but you will always be in my Heart Forever, Saying Goodbye is difficult but I know I will see you again some day in Heaven.
I only knew Mr. Espaniola for less than a year. Lived on Keaka Street, he was just 4 houses down. His children were the same ages as me and my siblings. I remember him always smiling and no harsh words for anyone. He has earned his place in Heaven.
Smiley, your warm heart and loving ways will be missed by all! Rest in LOVE❤️!
Our father was a kind and gentle man.. I don't ever remember him getting angry..Every Sunday and Mondays after Karate he would bring us to Sam's fountain for cheese burgers... Also on weekends he would bring the us and the neighborhood kids to the drive-in to watch Disney movies...take us swimming at Sand island beach, for lunch we would have pork -n- beans sandwich... I'm gonna miss you daddy!!
