James Leslie Branham's Obituary
James L. Branham, born June 23, 1946 born to Leslie H. Branham and Anna Rose (Presutti) Branham, passed away on October 10, 2022 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jim fought a brave battle with cancer but suffered a complication and passed very suddenly while on his road to recovery.
Jim left a lasting impression on all who met him, worked with him, went to school with him, or had him as a friend, neighbor, teacher, colleague or family member. He graduated from Brown County High School, followed by Indiana State University, where he obtained a teaching degree and taught at Covington High School from 1969 to 1980. He then obtained his law degree from Indiana University School of Law. This led him to Kokomo and Indianapolis to practice law and finally led him to Honolulu, HI when he accepted employment at the State Supreme Court of Hawaii as the Chief Staff Attorney. He was smart with an acerbic sense of humor, contemplative and genuinely had a heart for others and their wellbeing. He left a positive imprint wherever he trekked. He fully enjoyed retirement, his daily walks, reading, cooking and traveling.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Anna Rose Presutti Branham, father Leslie H. Branham, sisters, Jackie D. Branham Gouty and Pamela J. Branham. He is survived by his brother, Mark S. Branham of Nineveh, IN and sisters, Janice (Billy) Whetstine of Bargersville, IN and Terresa L. Branham, Franklin, IN. He had six nieces & nephews, along with several great nieces & nephews and cousins from both the Branham and Presutti families.
As per Jim’s specific wishes there will not be a service. The family wishes to thank his friends and co-workers in Hawaii who gave him so much support and lots of laughter as well as the medical staff who cared for him. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
