Dear James,
Your generous heart and kindness toward everyone will truly be missed. We hope to see you again someday in heaven.
We have so many memories of all the life experiences we shared together.
Especially when Jamie, Justin, Rylan and Derryn were growing up.
Spending vacay time together on the Big Island, attending all the kid’s birthday parties, graduations, weddings and becoming grandparents.
Lori and Pat were besties since elementary school and together with you and Frank, we enjoyed some very special moments. Dinner dates, vacations, movies, dancing, our weddings, becoming parents and grandparents.
We remember the white Ford Pinto you drove when we first met you and how you always had so much fun with all the kids. So patient, kind and soft spoken. All the kids loved Uncle James, our Camp Counselor.
You were destined to be the perfect Grandpa for Connor and Chloe.
We are sure that you will always be there for your children and grandchildren, in spirit and in their hearts. They have many memories of your unconditional love, hugs and support throughout the years.

As a result, I made lifelong friends. You have made such a huge impact on my life and I am a better person for it. I will always treasure our weekly discussions over the phone and you visiting me in the mainland. I don’t just consider you my Dad, but my best friend that I could sharing anything with. Dad, you will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for loving us unconditionally. Just the other week, I was sick. You were worried about me and came to my house to give me ginger chews, chicken noodle soup and did all the chores around the house so that I could rest. You did everything you could to make life easier for me and many others. I am so thankful that I could see you almost every day. You chose to be around and wanted to spend as much time with us. You picked up Connor every day from school and each week watched the kids so Sean and I could go to church and attend small group. You wanted every moment with your grandchildren and never missed getting hugs from them. You were my rock and I will always be grateful for all the sacrifices you made for me so that I could have a wonderful life. I will never forget you my dear friend. You will always have a special place in my heart and I keep my fondest memories of you there. What I loved about you the most is how you served so many of us and never complained. I know this because you told me everything, well almost everything, we have to keep some secrets to ourselves. I so wish you can tell me what's going on up there and what you see. The Blessed Mother, Angels! how lucky are you to be in the presence of the Blessed Trinity, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit! You now know there is more than just our earthly life and you are probably smiling as we are here crying, missing you. Thank You My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with my dear friend James Lum who truly made a difference in all of our lives. I Love You dear friend and will truly miss you.
