James Shigemi Umetsu, age 62 passed away on June 12, 2011. Mr. Umetsu was born in Kamakura, Japan. He retired from Hawaiian Airlines where he was an accounting agent. James was an avid traveler and body boarder.He is survived by h Read Obituary
I worked with Jimmy for many years at Hawaiian Airlines. He was a very intelligent and caring person. At times he was like a father figure to me always willing to listen, be supportive and offer advice when needed. He will be greatly missed and I will always have fond memories of him. My condolences go out to his family and may god bless you all.

I met Jimmy & a bunch of other local bradda's in san diego,navy boot camp.He alway's smiled,no matter what we all had to endure while in training.One of our shipmate's,Bobby Tibayan also passed away back in 1997.Can't remember where jimmy went after boot camp.I ran into him a couple of time's back in the day.Please accept our condolences.William W. I got to know Jim during my dawn patrol times with the
morning Walls gang. Always enjoyed talking with him. Most of
us were there more for the exercise versus to ride the best
wave...so the environment was very friendly. I will always
remember his favorite words, "That wave looks like too much
work, I'll wait for the one that has more power so I no need
paddle too much." We miss you Jim!
