Jeannette H. Oshiro's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Jeannette Hiroko (Taba) Oshiro.
Jeannette Hiroko (Taba) Oshiro, age 81, passed away peacefully at home in Kapahulu on October 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 24, 1942, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late Seitaro and Kameko Taba. Jeannette was the youngest of seven children.
Jeannette graduated from McKinley High School in 1960. In 1964, she met Robert T. Oshiro at a moonlight picnic. They were married at Central Union Church in December 1966 and settled down in Kaneohe. They raised two daughters, Kathryn and Sarah. Jeannette’s devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, and she worked hard for her family as an office manager at Longs Drugs, retiring in 2010 after a 35-year career.
In her leisure time, Jeannette found joy in spending time with her two grandsons, Olin and Keaghan, attending many of their sporting and schooling events. She also enjoyed the companionship of her sisters and occasional reunions with childhood friends.
Jeannette is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert, daughters Kathryn (Ted) Murata and Sarah Oshiro (partner Dayton Oda), grandsons Olin and Keaghan Kobayashi, sisters Florence Arashiro and Laura Takaki, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Betsy Kaneshiro, Clarence Taba, Gladys Nakagawa, and Stanley Taba.
A memorial service for Jeannette will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, with a non-religious service following at 11:30 AM. Jeannette will be buried at 2:00 PM at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Cheerful or aloha attire is requested.
Jeannette’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her caregiver, Mary Purdy, and the staff of Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care during Jeannette’s final year.
Jeannette’s memory will live forever in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
