When Jessie first came to Northwindward Baptist Church, I interviewed her and wrote a Newsletter about her and that was the beginning of our friendship. I learned a lot about her, she shared alot of her past with me. Jessie was there for me when I lost both my parents. I was so overwhelmed with the loss of my parents, she told me I could come over anytime, her door was always open for me. We spent a lot of time together we would go holoholo to get lunch, get ice cream or to Fabricmart. We sometimes met up at the Church(NWBC) where we would volunteer or simply fellowship. She was always volunteering even if it was the simplest task; like sharpening pencils for our Sunday school students. She taught me how to make baby quilts and I have made 20+ quilts since then for babies all over the world, from Mexico to Alaska. She was the best teacher to me. I truly believe God sent her to Hawaii to purposely become part of the body of Christ at NWBC, in doing so, she taught me to quilt and quilting has brought me so much peace, I’m not overwhelmed with grief anymore because I know both my parents are in Heaven and they’re not suffering anymore they are actually healed just like the Bible says. Jessie was like a mother to me and I love her very much. She is a great blessing to us all. Thank You Jesus.
