Jo-Ann Hung Yuk (Chee) Chun's Obituary
Jo-Ann Hung Yuk (Chee) Chun, was born on November 17, 1936 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were Nora Kam Hop (Ching) and Albert Noa Chee. She was 80 years old.
Jo-Ann passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Jo-Ann was a cafeteria clerk for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) after many years of dedicated service she retired. After retirement she was happy to help in raising her seven grandchildren.
Jo-Ann attended the following schools, Sacred Hearts Convent, Sacred Hearts Academy, after graduating from high school she attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and she attended Airline School of the Pacific. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend to everyone.
Jo-Ann lived in Honolulu and Los Angeles.
Jo-Ann was married to Benjamin Yau Choy Chun on December 24, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jo-Ann was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. Her favorite quote from the book of Psalms was; Psalms 23, (The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake).
For Jo-Ann her family was her world. The important events in her life were, her marriage to her husband Benjamin, raising her children and the births of her grandchildren.
Jo-Ann was a loving, vivacious, generous, compassionate, selfless, thoughtful, kind and patient woman. She enjoyed shopping, dancing hula, coupon cutting, cooking, and socializing with family and friends. Jo-Ann’s favorite songs were, Akaka Falls and Mi Nei.
Jo-Ann’s passion for life was unlike any other. She absolutely adored her family and friends. Her love was unconditional and unforgettable.
Jo-Ann is survived by her husband, Benjamin Yau Choy Chun; son, Jeffery Noa K. H. Chun; daughters, Lezleeann M. L. Chun, Jaylynn M. L. Chun and Kellyjean M. L. Chun; brother, Albert Chee; sisters, Julie Araki and Noreen Teruya; seven grandchildren.
Funeral Service for Jo-Ann will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., service to begin at 11:30 a.m., burial to follow 2:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter.
