John Raroque Billon's Obituary
Mr. John Raroque Billon, of Honolulu, HI, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83.
John was born the second youngest of seven children to parents Ireneo and Justina Billon. He was raised in Alaminos, Pangasinan, Philippines before joining the United States Navy in 1958. He spent his entire military career as a submariner before retiring as a Mess Management Specialist in 1977.
He married Evangeline Aguinaldo of Hilo, HI and settled down in Honolulu. Although their marriage ended in divorce the couple had two children. John continued to work with the military as a civilian with the Navy Exchange Uniform Shop on Pearl Harbor Naval Base over the next twenty years before retiring from the workforce completely.
John is survived by his son, John Michael (Kim); his daughter, Evanita Marie (Reynolds); four grandsons, Micheal, Matthew, John Michael Jr., and Ryson; a great-grandson, Makamae; his sisters, Zoila Billon Ranches and Edna Billon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, July 14 between 10 - 11 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life. As per his wishes, the body was cremated and the ashes will have a burial at sea. A final committal service will be held to honor his military service at "Punchbowl" National Cemetery of the Pacific on July 16 following a private scattering of the ashes.
