John Thomas Mayers JR.'s Obituary
A Steady Road of Kindness
January 4th, 1953 – March 16th, 2026
“One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives.” — Euripides
John Thomas Mayers Jr. first opened his eyes in Anchorage, Alaska, where wide skies and long winters shaped his calm resolve. He spent his last morning in Honolulu, Hawaii, a place whose warm breezes suited his gentle spirit. Loyalty guided John in every season of life, echoing the words he cherished from Euripides.
Friends knew him as kind and supportive, and the simple truth remains: he was loved by all.
Engines were his chosen craft. He began as an auto mechanic for private automobile companies, focusing on the precise art of Porsche repair. Away from the workshop, John found steady joy on Oʻahu’s hiking trails and in quiet travels throughout the islands. Living in Waimanalo, he valued clear paths, open horizons, and the peace
of outdoor days.
John’s brother, James Mayers, shares the many memories stitched into these landscapes. Together they carried family stories that now rest gently in shared remembrance.
Today we set down the tools, fold the maps, and let the island wind carry our gratitude. John’s road continues beyond our sight, yet the mark of his kindness remains easy to follow.
