John Russell Robinson Sr.'s Obituary
John Russell Robinson Sr. age 77, of Kapolei passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2023.
He was born on December 20, 1945 in Hancock, Maryland to parents James Russell Robinson
and Grace Agnes (Snyder) Robinson. Robinson graduated from Hancock High School (’63) and
then served in the U.S. Navy for over 22 years as a Hospital Corpsman. After retiring from the
U.S. Navy, Robinson continued to serve in the civil service at the Tripler Army Medical Center
Central Appointments Section where he, after 23 years, retired from in 2012. He was a member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and dedicated his retired years to serving
many callings throughout the church.
One of his last and most notable callings was as the Stake and Ward Temple and Family History
Consultant. He could often be found in the late hours of the night working diligently indexing,
cataloging, and transcribing photographs and documents both for the church and for his own
family. He was a patient man who was kind and dependable, never turning away a plea for help.
A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, “Papa” gave his life to loving his wife, children, and
grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, along with three sisters Mary Younker, Dolly Robinson,
and Ruth Walker. He is survived by wife, Dianne (Makaneole) Robinson, four sons John
Robinson Jr., Sterling Robinson, Stuart Robinson, Andrew Robinson, and one daughter Roxanne
Meleiseā. Five sisters, Grace Budd, June Winters, Sharon Robinson, Kay Lynch, and Karen
Willis. 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with many extended family
members, nieces and nephews.
Robinson’s services will be held on August 5, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints Makakilo Stake Center. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM followed by a service at
12:00PM and a luncheon thereafter. The burial will take place at Diamond Head Memorial Park
at 12:30PM on August 7, 2023.
