I seen pics of Uncle holding me when I lived with my grandma. I use to get letters & gifts from him & he would always say Tuki Tuki Bird. Found out that was his name for me. Later I was Kid Cha-ling & he dressed us in tan pants, white t-shirts, brown plaid shirts buttoned only at the neck & bandanas around our heads. Uncle got me in trouble a few times in elementary school. He use to come get me to go get food & spend the day at the park. He never went to the office to sign me out. One time we went to the river with grandma. He took me out on a boat & threw me in the river & said he was baptizing me. I had to swim back, think I was 7 yrs old. Later he called me Marty Lynn or Hokte (Creek language for girl). One time I was sick & Uncle ran from Tulsa to help grandma take care of me. Uncle loved running & ran daily. As he got older he would run around River Spirit casino daily until he slowed down & just walked outside & inside the casino. Mom told Uncle about how me, my kids & grandkids would run in 1 mile or 5K's, the medals we won. He was proud of us he would say "oh man". I can't run as much as he did but I will continue to be involved in 5K's to honor Uncle John. Last year Uncle came to live with us after losing Aunt Diane. I have never been to the Walmart as much when he lived here. I had to keep popcorn & diet pepsi stocked up especially when he watched wrestling. Last March me & my son Eric took Uncle back to Hawaii to live with Cousin Terry. For a small man Uncle could really eat, had to hide sweet stuff from him. When we got to Hawaii we were so amazed how beautiful it was. Uncle told us places to see & especially places to eat. I had to find musubi. Uncle used to make it for me to take to school or snack on or buy me the candy white rabbits. Least I think that's what it was called cause you could eat the wrapper too. I regret going to Hawaii when you were younger. I know you tried to get me there to learn to surf, dance, go to the beaches, lua's & check out Diamond Head. We will miss you & love you Uncle John. 😇🙏
