Jojo Ramos Acosta's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Jojo Ramos Acosta, 34, of Honolulu, Hawaii, who passed away on October 10, 2014. He was born in Brgy. 9, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on May 3, 1980; where he lived until he arrived in Hawaii on August 9, 1990. His parents are Dalmacio Saoit Acosta and Herminia Manuel Ramos; he was the youngest of three children.
Schools he attended were Central Elementary School in the Philippines, Kalihi Kai Elementary, Kalakaua Intermediate and W.R. Farrington High School and Honolulu Community College.
He began a career as a motor transport operator in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Washington; he also served multiple tours to Iraq and later served another term in the Army Reserves. He was a United States Army Veteran. Jojo received the following medals while serving in the Army: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Overseas Service Ribbon. Important events that he experienced through the Army were traveling to foreign countries (e.g. Korea, Japan, and Iraq) and completing his military terms.
He was also a food service worker for Costco-Iwilei and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where he received his First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Jojo is remembered as a kind, caring, selfless, funny and indecisive person who loved working on his car, riding bike, fixing things that are broken, spending time with friends and family and most especially his girlfriend, Noemi Alcotas, who passed away with him.
Jojo is survived by his father, Dalmacio Saoit Acosta; mother, Herminia Manuel Ramos; brother, Gregorio “Greg” R. (Glenda) Acosta; sister, Susan R. Acosta; nieces, Alexa Camryn and Mikaila Acosta; nephew, Jessie John A. Galasinao.
Visitation to his evening wake service will be held from 5:30-9:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church-Kalihi; prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation for his funeral service to be held from 8:30-9:15 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2014 also at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church-Kalihi; Mass to begin at 9:30 a.m. with Committal service to follow 11:00 a.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
