My mother Rosita Kinghorn as I remember knew Zeny about 50 years ago. My mother loves to holo-holo on her day off and had asked Zeny to go with her. Zeny said she didn't want to because I think she had called in sick at Kaiser. With Rosita persuasion they went and that's when and where (don't know what military club Hale Koa 50 years ago?) Zeny and John Jacques met. John is my son godfather, he has special place in our hearts.

Uncle Jon and I shared much through the years. I am honored to have Jon and Arsenia as guests to my wedding in 2007, as well as the trips they made to Cape Cod, and our trip to Maui for his mother, Jane’s, remembrance in 2012.
The influence of my uncle Jon often felt grandfatherly. He will be missed, but his ever-optimistic nature will always motivate me.
I served with Jon aboard the USS Somers DDG-34 (79-81) as a Fire Control technician. Jon was my senior chief at the time aboard the Somers and later became the command master chief. Jon was one of the nicest, fairest and considerate men I had been around. Jon was always concerned about our level of training, readiness, and most importantly, our personal well being. Jon set an excellent example for all of us under his direct responsibility as well as the entire crew. Over the past couple of years Jon and I were able to share a few Facebook conversations. Jon did not like the path this country is on but through all of it I believed that the ship would right itself eventually. it was nice to talk with Jon again. My thoughts are with Jon's family.
