Josefina Miguel Estrella's Obituary
Josefina “Josie” Miguel Estrella, 74, of Honolulu, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. She was born in Santo Rosario, Nueva Ecija in the Philippines on April 27, 1945.
Upon receiving her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Philippine Statesman College in Cabanatuan City, Philippines, Josie taught 2nd Grade for several years. After emigrating to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1967, she served as the production manager for Dee Lite Bakery, managing local, mainland, and international sales until she retired in 2005.
The consummate educator, Josie imparted her wisdom and passion for cooking to her children through her home kitchen. Her radiant smile, infectious laugh, and well-crafted cuisine were enjoyed by many.
Josie is survived by her loving husband Eduardo, son John, daughter Edwina (Mark) of Chicago, IL, and grandsons Maxwell and James. She is preceded in death by her father, Florencio Miguel; mother Librada Balais Miguel; and younger brother, Pampilo Miguel.
Friends and family will celebrate Josie’s life on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Visitation is at 9:30am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kalihi, followed by a memorial mass at 10:30am. Burial will follow at 12:00pm the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
