Joseph “Joe” Pa Kahikina
A native of Hawaii, and a longtime resident of Newport News, VA for 43 years, passed away with his family by his side on December 6, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a First Sergeant after 26 years. He was decorated with the National Service Defense Medal; Bronze Star Medal; Overseas Service Ribbons; Vietnam Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NCO Professional Development Ribbons; Good Conduct Medal (Eighth Award): Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm; Master Diver Badge; Army Commendation Medal; and Joint Service Commendation Medal.
He then served in the U.S. Maritime Services for 13 years. He graduated from Castle High School in Kaneohe, HI in 1957. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Kealoha Kahikina; his mother, Evangeline Kalanihuia Kanehe and his father, Joseph Pa Kahikina Sr.; grandparents, Daniel & Annie Kahikina; Alexander & Rose Kalanihuia. He is survived by his children; Kevin Joseph Kahikina, Staceyann Kahikina and Joey (Diana) Kahikna; Grand-daughter, Ella Leia Kahikina; sister, Jeanette Kahikina Allianic of Delano, CA; brothers, Milton Kanehe of Delano, CA and Wendell Moi Kanehe of Seattle, WA; nieces, Jovanne Allianic-Hartman, Gigi Allianic, Tyna Allianic, Katherine Kanehe Pai, Kealani Stine, and Le’a Kanehe; nephew Chad Kanehe.
Committal Service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, HI with full military honors.
