When someone we love passes, it seems as if the timeÃ¢â‚¬Â¦ stands still and silent. A quiet sadness often can be felt, not just heardÃ¢â‚¬Â¦ a longing for one more day, one more word and one more touch. We may not understand why God chose to have him leave this earth so soon, or why he had to leave before we were ready to say goodbye. But little by little we will begin to remember not just that he died, but that he LIVED. And his LIFE gave us memories to beautiful to forget! I will treasure all my special memories with you. I miss you so much already. But I know we will see you again someday, in a heavenly place where there is no parting, a place that there are no words that mean goodbye. Until then I we will pass your wisdom and memories down to our children and grandchildren. I want to thank you for being such a wonderful and loving grandfather to all of us, and just a wonderful person to your family and friends. First, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I knew your Papa and brother when he lived with us when he first moved to Oahu in the early '50s before joining the Army. He was like an older brother; I loved him and would loved to visit and "talk story" just once more.We visited the family home in '52, and I remember Dickie, Kuulei, Laverne. You may remember my older sister Memory. David & Violet (Buddy) Kalama were my parents; my mother was Mary (Hook's) niece. Over the years I tried to find your ohana, but I was looking in Waimanalo. Your Papa lived with us when he first came to Oahu (when he joined the Army in the '50s) but we lost touch when I moved to the mainland.
