Joshua Koi'i Anthony Akana's Obituary
Joshua Koi`i Anthony Akana was the son of Irene Richards and Joshua Koi'i Akana was born on May 13, 1928.
Formerly from Honolulu and recently a resident of Waimea, Hawai'i.
Joshua has gone to his new home with Our Lord Jesus Christ and is seated at His Right Hand on March 13, 2018, exactly two months before celebrating his 90th birthday. Josh was 89 years old.
He worked for Hawaiian Electric Company as Secretary for the manager of Generation Department, Ed Boffman. In addition, he was a member of the Hawaiian Electric Glee Club.
Serving his community, he was a delegate in good standing with the Royal Order of Kamehameha and a member of the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club.
In 1988, Joshua retired from the Hawaiian Electric Company and moved to take on a new journey: Manager of the Parker Ranch Lodge in Waimea, Hawai'i.
Janice M. E. Akana (who went home to the Lord on December 9, 2013) went up on weekends to help her husband until she retired from Straub Clinic; then where she moved totally to Waimea to share the journey with Joshua and their new home in Waimea on Mahua Street, where they both spent their final days here on earth.
Joshua Koi`i Anthony Akana is survived by his daughters, Janna K.M. Keawe (Kimo) and Jerri K. Dizol (Alex); along with (4) grandchildren, Tiffany-Michelle Keawe-Cruz (Zachary Cruz), Isaiah Schubert, Micah Akana-Dizol and Noah Akana-Dizol. (9) great-grandchildren.
His celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 30th, 2018; visitation from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary in Kaneohe followed by service to begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial service will be held the next day on Saturday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery's Garden of Mount Calvary, also in Kaneohe.
