Juan Guzman Agbayani's Obituary
Juan Guzman Agbayani, 78, of Honolulu, Hawaii has passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. He was born to Hilaria (Guzman) and Claudio Yagin Agbayani in Barrio Barikir, Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on May 7, 1939. He was the second eldest of six children.
He retired as a construction carpenter, after serving 26 years of service. After retirement, he assisted in his wife’s care home business.
Juan married Concepcion Igarta Ibera on May 22, 1962 at the Philippine Independent Church in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
Juan lived in the Philippines until he moved to Hawaii in 1968.
Juan was a faithful member of the Philippine Independent Church in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Most important events in his life were the day he married his love, Concepcion, and the days his children were born.
Juan was known for his favorite sayings: “Bumbai you learn, how much your money now,” “When we going Vegas?” “Stop requested.” “When you going build your house.”
Words to describe Juan were generous, thoughtful, hard-working, funny and resourceful. His hobbies and past times were chicken fight & gaming, collecting cans, collecting pens for his cousin to give to his students in the Philippines and collecting hats and shirts to give his family in the Philippines. In his younger years, building homes was also an activity he enjoyed.
Juan is survived by his loving wife, Concepcion “Conching” Ibera Agabayani; children, Eddie (Helen) Agbayani, Maribeth George, Danilo (Imelda) Agbayani and Josephine (Harry) Alonso; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Melicio (Cresencia) Agbayani; sisters, Magdalena (Jaime) Arrocena and Violeta (Marcelo) Madelipay.
Celebration of life and wake services for Juan will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m., family service to begin at 6:30 p.m., and wake service to follow 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Valley of the Temples Chapel; visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Mass to begin at 11:00 a.m., and entombment to follow 12:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park Chapel.
