Kathleen Ann Harris 's Obituary
Kathleen Ann Harris, 58, of Kailua, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. Kathy was predeceased by her father, Thomas William “Bill” Harris. She is survived by her mother, Teruko “Terri” Nishijima-Harris who resided with Kathy in Kailua, brother Roger and sister-in-law, Marie, of Manassas, VA, brother Will and sister-in-law Anne of Gainesville, Georgia, beloved nieces Stephanie Harris of San Diego, CA, and Kimberly Harris of Arlington, VA and devoted friend, Linda Arnold of Honolulu, Hawaii. Kathy was born in Atlanta, GA, on August 21, 1954, grew up in Atlanta, Chicago, Maui, Okinawa, Baltimore, and spent her adult years in Arlington, Honolulu, California, Reno, Vail, and returned to Hawaii to set down roots in 1986. Kathy was a dedicated legal assistant at Starn, O’Toole, Marcus.& Fisher for 18 years and will be greatly missed by her family of co-workers.
Kathy will be remembered as an avid sportswoman and was active in different phases of her life in paddling, karate, swimming, bicycling, running, ocean kayaking, scuba diving and motorcycling. She was a familiar face in the early morning hours at the gym for many years and traveled the world. Kathy was especially proud to have completed the 2,500th anniversary of the original marathon in Athens, Greece in 2010. In fact, she ran over 30 marathons and completed the Honolulu Marathon in December 2012.
Kathy will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched as she has such an extended Ohana. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 8, at Kaimuki Christian Church, 1117 Koko Head Avenue, Honolulu, with reception immediately following in the Church Fellowship Hall.
