Kathleen Summers' Obituary
Kathleen (Filly) Keith Summers of Kailua, Hawaii passed away on September 11, 2023. Kathy was born on February 7, 1944, in New York City, to Sylvia and Joel Keith. She was raised in Phoenix, Arizona and was a graduate of West HS. As a youth, she worked as a lifeguard, a server, and went to Girls State.
Kathy went on to attend BYU where she met and married her husband, Keith Summers. Kathy graduated from BYU with a degree in art education. She is the beloved mother of 9 children, grandma and great grandma of 41 children, and was service trainer for 18 dogs.
Kathy’s love in life was serving her family and community. She and her service dogs visited hundreds of patients. She volunteered for Hospice Hawaii caring for AIDS patients. She also volunteered for The Young People’s Support Center, Hawaii Fido, Mokapu Elementary School, The Movement Center, Castle Hospital, Kapiolani Hospital, and a number of community churches. Kathy loved planting and nurturing flowers. She was known for her kindness, ability to listen, and love for everyone she knew. In return she was loved by everyone she met.
Kathy is survived by her husband Keith, sisters: Sam and Chris, and her children Benita (Edmund), Sarah (Matthew), Sylvia (Scott), Abraham (Zena), Hyrum (Irene), Eliza (Micah), Daniel (Kristie) Rosie (Carter), and Polly (Sean). Service is October 2 at 3:00pm at LDS, Keolu Chapel, 1461 Kanapuu Dr., Kailua, HI. Doors will open at 2pm for family meet and greet. Please send condolences to [email protected].
