Katsumi Uyeoka's Obituary
Katsumi “Kats” Uyeoka sadly left us on March 2, 2016. Kats was born on January 1, 1927, and was the second son of Takuo and Tamiyo.
He always talked about how fun his youth was, growing up in the heart of Waikiki with his three brothers, going to the beach everyday, surfing, fishing or just hanging out.
Kats graduated from Kaimuki High School, the University of Hawaii, and also served in the United States Army. He was a Real Estate Broker before he began long career in State Government, first with the Department of Health, then transferring to the Department of Transportation, where he retired.
After retirement, he was employed part time at Hawaii Kai Golf Course and Honolulu Country Club, where he worked for golfing privileges. Kats was an avid bowler, golfer and long time member of the Diamond Head Lions Club and Tenrikyo Taiheiyo Church.
Kats and his loving companion of over 20 years, Harumi “Susie” Molnaire, traveled around the world, enjoyed singing karaoke and entertaining out of town guests. We would like to thank caregivers Edna, Rod and Florie for their kindness and compassion during his last years.
He is survived by companion, Susie Molnaire; sons, Derek and Scott (Lisa); daughter, Lauren (Trent) Takaoka; grandchildren, Jennifer, Arwen, Chance, Justin, and Raiden; brother, Michio Uyeoka; nieces and his extended Molnaire and Chow O'hana.
He will be remembered with a celebration of his life on April 22, 2016, at Hawaii Memorial Park Mortuary to begin at 10:00 a.m., with a Committal service to follow at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. Aloha attire.
