Kilikikopa Michael Kaimana Naki-Martinez's Obituary
Remembering Chris Naki-Martinez
October 4th, 1999 – March 24th, 2026
Our family gathers to tell the story of Kilikikopa Michael Kaimana Naki-Martinez, the young man we simply called Chris. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and from his first day he filled our homes with easy laughter and steady strength. Chris lived only 26 years, yet those years shaped us in lasting ways.
Chris carried the spirit of the islands wherever he went, and his most noted trait was his quiet, steady resilience. Even in hard moments, he stood firm and helped the rest of us feel safe. Even though growing up he lived separate from his brother, they always shared that they still felt safe knowing Chris had their back.
Family meant a lot to him. Chris shared a close bond with his brothers, Joseph and Jason Naki-Martinez; and when he had a stroke last year, he reached out every small get-together felt complete when the four of them were side by side. He often said that being a son and a brother was his first and favorite role.
He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Martinez, and the thought of them together again brings us a touch of peace. Chris died in Waianae on March 24th, 2026, leaving a space that we will forever feel.
We keep his memory alive each time we choose patience, steady hope, and that same resilient spirit he showed daily. Thank you, Chris, for loving us so well in the short time you were here. We love you always, and you will remain close in every story we tell.
