Lapaz Sabas' Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Lapaz Sabas
January 24th, 1930 - October 24th, 2025
We celebrate the beautiful life of Lapaz Sabas, who was born in the Philippines on January 24th, 1930 and passed away in Aiea on October 24th, 2025. Her 95 years were marked by steady joy and an open heart.
Those who knew Lapaz remember her as kind, empathetic, supportive, loyal, and compassionate. These qualities shaped every choice she made and brightened each room she entered. Neighbors fondly recall the way she would wake before dawn to roll lumpia and leave warm plates on doorsteps, a quiet gesture that often arrived just when someone needed encouragement most. Friends speak of evenings when her soft singing of old Visayan lullabies drifted through open windows, turning ordinary nights into treasured memories. Her example of steady care continues to guide everyone she touched.
Family stood at the center of Lapaz’s world. She loved her sons, Celso Sabas and Celestino Sabas, and welcomed their wives, Monette and Lydia, with the same warmth she offered to everyone else. On Sunday afternoons in Aiea, she could be found on the lanai, darning shirts for Celso and Celestino while sharing stories of her childhood fiestas—simple rituals that reminded her family of the enduring power of love and togetherness. Their bond reflects the encouragement she shared daily.
Born in the Philippines, Lapaz carried her roots with quiet pride wherever life led her. Passing away in Aiea, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness that bridges both places.
Today we choose gratitude as we remember Lapaz. May each act of compassion we share honor her memory and keep her light shining brightly within our homes and communities.
