Lawrence "Larry" Jiro Nakano's Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” Jiro Nakano, 76, of Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016. He was born on February 2, 1939 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Tsutomu Nakano and Yaeko Ohye. He was a Certified Public Accountant for the State of Hawaii, a management analyst for the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation – Harbors Division. He retired from the State of Hawaii in 2006 where he served 36 years. He was also a United States Army Veteran. He served in the Army for 2 1/2 years From January 1962 - October 1964. He also earned the Good Conduct Medal.
Larry was a busy man after retiring. He kept busy by bowling (something he did for many, many years), he was also very active with the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the Silver Beaver Award, this award is the highest award a volunteer can earn. He was one of very few that earned this award. Larry was also very involved with the Honolulu Aquarium Society. Traveling to Las Vegas was another past time that he thoroughly enjoyed! He also was a collector of stamps and coins.

He is survived by wife, Donna F. Nakano; children, Keith (Stacy) Nakano, Jana Lynn (Derrick) Fu, and Jaime (Drake) Tamayei; eight grandchildren, Kelci Nakano, Kadon Nakano, Kayci Nakano, Carson Fu, Jaynie Fu, Chaz Tamayei, Trey Tamayei, and Jace Tamayei; siblings, Edward K. (Betty) Nakano, Yukari Nakano (Phillip Madell), and Kimiya (Eiko) Nakano.
Visitation 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; Celebration of Life Service to begin at 6:30 p.m.
