The Final Brushstroke: Honoring Lena Jewel Caldwell
July 21st, 1935 - March 3rd, 2025
In the gentle embrace of the morning sun over the vast ocean, Lena Jewel Caldwell painted her final masterpiece. Born under the wide Texas skies on a summer's day, her life was a canvas filled with vibrant hues of confidence and creativity.
The sea whispered to her spirit, and she captured its endless dance on canvas, each stroke an echo of her soul's connection to the flowing tides. Her love for arts and crafts wasn't just a pastime but a language through which she spoke to the world, revealing the subtle beauty in every moment.
As an ordained minister, Lena wove threads of compassion into the tapestry of many lives, guiding hearts with the same gentle care she applied to her art. Her journey led her to the tranquil shores of Honolulu, Hawaii, where the ocean she so cherished serenaded her into eternal rest.
She was preceded in passing by her cherished spouse, Paul Wayne Caldwell; her brothers Otis Calvin Gardner Jr., Douglas Gardner, and Faye Benafield; and her parents Otis Calvin Gardner Sr. and Lena Bell Holtman. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Deborah Trent Rozycki, Connie Trent Roberts, and Barbara Seal, and her niece Star Lavin, who carry forward her spirit of grace and creativity.
Though her earthly brushes are laid to rest, the colors of her life continue to inspire all who knew her. The ocean waves will forever sing her melody, a gentle reminder of a life beautifully lived.
