Leslie Fusao Kanda, 74 passed away Nov. 11, 2019 at his residence in Honolulu under care of Hawaii Hospice. He was born June 22, 1945 in Wailuku to the late Takeo William and Mabel Matsue (Okazaki) Kanda. Leslie is survived by his Read Obituary
I remember Leslie for two things: He was a good swimmer. It was a public or school pool somewhere in Maui. Also I remember Leslie doing charcoal color portraits and they were so good it was of professional quality. It was fun spending time at his house and I would explore his dad's medical office - didn't want to get caught by Dr. Kanda but was always curious. Will miss Leslie since he was a very nice, friendly and humble person.
When we were kids we used to spend a few summers on Maui and enjoyed playing with Leslie in the back yard with a small waterfall and pond. We always managed to get wet near that pond. Of course we always managed to get wet again at bath time taking a furo. A few years later we were into model airplanes by Revell. It was then that Leslie's artistic skills excelled. He painted his models to look exactly as shown on the box while our models did not have that fine touch. As we got older our meetings were not as frequent but we had fun meeting each other at dinner shows; sometimes on other islands. I will miss having dinners with him; he was always a fun person to talk to and share our life experiences. Rest in peace Les, your cousin Roy!!
