Lorraine M. Sagawinit's Obituary
Lorraine Maria Sagawinit was born on March 15, 1940 in Puunene Hospital in Maui to Ruth Lee and Bernardino Racoma.
Lorraine attended St. Joseph School in Waipahu and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1958.
After graduation she worked as a Hawaiian Tel Operator and married her one and only, Edward Sagawinit after making him wait two years to hold her hand.
Eddie and Lorraine were married on February 07, 1959 at St. Rita’s Church in Haiku and had six children, four boys, Les, Bruce, Mike and Duke and two girls, Mary and Tehani.
She attended St. Ann’s Church every Sunday 7am mass when possible.
Mom’s famous sayings: “Everything happens for a reason!”, “Everybody has a story.”, and in her later days, “Whatever!”
Her most special person in her life was dad of course and “Tutu”, her mother and good, close, caring friend, Karen Paul, owner of “The Source.”
Her favorite hang-outs, “Zippys & Windward Mall”
Her most important events in her life: Her marriage, her six kids, her successful
business “Hats By Lorraine.”
She enjoyed cooking, reading, and for her business, haku Lei making.
Dad best described her as the following: “beautiful, loving, caring, unusual, special, inspirational, spiritual, strong-minded, supportive and protective.”
Her favorite songs, Danny Lopes “Hospital Song”, Kent Rogers “Through the Years” and Jimmy Cliff “Brown Eyes.”
A Celebration of Life for Lorraine will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Visitation will be at 10:30 am with service to follow at 11:30 am at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary Chapel.
