Lourdes Santiago Ramos' Obituary
Lourdes Santiago Ramos
September 1, 1932 – March 27, 2017
Lourdes Santiago Ramos was happiest the most living in a home by the “seashore” in the
Philippines with her husband whom she fondly called Rudy. She had her five children, Louis
(Unchong), Maria Loida (Ray), Ruel, Ruby Rosa, and Russell (Ellie). Although her life took
a detour to Hawaii, she embraced her new life; worked for Sheraton Waikiki for more than 20
years, raised her kids and served her beloved church, St. Philomena. Her family grew, and 9
grandchildren were added to her family: Andrew, Joanna, Ariel, Tiana, Jasmine, Brittney,
Brandon, Kiara, and Trinity.
After her retirement, she continued her service to the church thru the Eucharistic Ministry. And
although at her later years, lamented not knowing where to go during the communion
procession, she was encouraged to continue doing it, follow whoever was in front of her
and “Bow” when in doubt. She was 77 years old when she stopped her church ministry, as she
battled kidney failure, and dialysis.
A Franciscan by heart, she wore her brown dress religiously, when she attended St. Anthony De
Padua novena. Lourdes will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, servant of
The Lord, and for her love of fine “Diamonds” & “Jewelry.”
Celebration of life services for Lourdes will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Philomena Catholic Church (3300 Ala Laulani Street Honolulu, HI 96818); visitation to begin at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11:30 a.m., with burial to follow 1:30 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
