Lucila Ventaja Vizcarra Ferguson's Obituary
Lucila Ventaja Vizcarra Ferguson, 79, returned to our Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. During her past five months of hospitalization, Lucy kept up the wit and sarcasm that delighted and entertained her family and friends for so many years. Her love and devotion to her son and family are now a part of heaven’s record.
Lucy, as she was known to all, Mommy to her son, “Lot” or “Chai” to her brothers, Tita Lucy to her nieces and nephews, was born October 27, 1937 in Manila, Philippines. She was the only daughter along with three brothers, children of Alberto and Teresa Vizcarra. She graduated from Santos Thomas University and began a successful and decorated career with Philippine Airlines. She attained the position of Check Attendant - the highest ranking. She was a favored flight attendant; always called upon to fly on many presidential flights. She was also a part of many PAL inaugural flights, most noteably, PAL’s first flight to Moscow.
After many years of dedicated service, she stopped flying and migrated to Hawai'i, USA. Here is where she met her husband, Roy Ferguson. They married in 1974 and in 1976, they became the proud parents of her only child, Ray. Lucy then became a stay at home wife and mother for 14 faithful years. In 1988, Lucy moved back to Hawai'i where she enjoyed a fresh start with her son, Ray. In 2002, Lucy made her last move to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her strong-willed but very generous disposition will forever be remembered. The tapestry of precious memories she has woven together, with her son and brothers, nieces and nephews, will always be cherished and held close to our hearts. Her loss has already left a large emptiness in our hearts. We already miss her big warm smile and her full-hearted laugh and calling all “neng”.
The family wishes to thank all who have remembered her with us. We also thank all who assisted us all along this journey to her final peaceful resting place.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Lucy Ventaja Vizcarra Ferguson, on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Valley Of The Temple Chapel, Kaneohe, HI. Visitation will start at 10:30 AM. Lunch to follow. The burial will be at 1:30 PM. The family also requests you bring a favorite photograph of Tita Lucy to share.
