Lucila Gonzales' Obituary
Lucila was born on June 25, 1964, in Manila, Philippines. In 1970, she moved to Hawaii with her mother and sisters and later attended McKinley High School. Some of her fondest memories were from the time she spent living and traveling in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Eventually, she settled in Hawaii, where she built a career in medical administration, working for Kapiolani Medical Center, Aloha Care, and United Health Care. On April 10, 2024, Lucila proudly became an American citizen—a meaningful milestone that reflected her hardworking and determined spirit.
She cherished every moment with her grandchildren. She was at every event—an hour early, in the front row—her enthusiasm and love shining bright. Her weekends were filled with breakfasts at restaurants, movie nights at the theater, or just going for a drive. These simple moments will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Lucila found hope and comfort in the Bible’s promise as found in John 5:28,29 & Acts 24:15, in a resurrection, when the Dead will be brought back to life in a peaceful paradise world. Her life was marked by faith, kindness, and love for her family and friends.
Her legacy lives on through her children Shanna Chong, Micah Hardy, and Camille Philips. Her grandchildren Milla Lawrence, Enoch Chong Jr, Jubilee Chong, and Orion Hardy. And Her sisters Brenda Gonzales, Suzette Reyes, and Jocelyn Kihara-Morioka.
Lucila passed away on June 20th, 2025. Though she is no longer with us, her warm spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in our hearts
