Dear Doug, Elaine, Douglas Thomas, Keith, Keahi, Jason, Lynn, Terry Ruth, Jeremy, Taya, Kai, and Family,
We remember Auntie Lucy for her kindness and humor. She brought Patty Lu her wedding cake, piece by piece, in a suitcase. When I was living in Georgia with Alain and her brothers Damien and Lynn, she and Mom came to visit us. When we were riding down the road, Alain says she was fretting about what to do with a banana peel. Aunt Lucy took it quietly, and tossed it out the window. (Scandalous and biodegradable.) She and Mom had many good trips together. But Aunt Lucy always made sure to be home for kindergarten graduations (Jeremy and Jason both.) She accepted people as they came, and didn't take sides, trying to get us to work out our own conflicts. I also remember her beautiful orchids, which she grew in the garage in Dream City. Even though we 'invaded' her house, she was serene. I'm really glad Mom (Auntie Josephine) and I got to see her this Christmas. Mom says she has made peace with Lucy's passing. The last good visit when they could talk together was at the Rodrigues reunion that Cayenne organized in 2008. It has been tough since then, a slow progression of passing. God rest Auntie Lucy's soul, and bless you all!
Love, Mary Kay
