Luisa J. Cariaga's Obituary
Luisa passed peacefully from this life the morning of January 22nd after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Luisa was born on July 20, 1928 in Solsona Bagbago, Ilocos Norte. In 1968, Luisa, her two sons and her daughter got on the USS Cleveland and traveled across the Pacific Ocean for 15 days to Honolulu, HI where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Hale Nani Hospital. After 10 years as a Nurse’s Aide, she decided to open her own business as a Care Home Operator. Luisa retired in 2004 after 30 years as a Care Home Operator.
Luisa is survived by three children (and spouses): Elmer (Brigida) Cariaga, Edwin Cariaga, and Madeline (Zaldy) Lacamiento; seven grandchildren: Cheryl Esperanza, Jennifer Alibin, Edison Cariaga, Jackie Arcano, Justin Cariaga, Jared Lacamiento, and Jay-Aaron Cariaga; and two great grandchildren: Meling and Makana Esperanza. She was also survived by her two brothers: Elpidio and Diomedes Juan. She was preceded in death by her husband Benigno.
Memorial and Burial service will be held on Tuesday, February 11th. Memorial service will be at 9:30am. Location: St. Anthony Church – Kalihi 640 Puuhale Road Honolulu, HI 96819; Burial service will be at 12:00pm. Location: Valley of the Temples, Holy Cross IV 47-200 Kahekili Highway; Lunch to follow.
