Lydia G. Bautista's Obituary
Lydia G. Bautista was born in Cebu, Philippines, to Jose V. Gutang and Purificacion Ramos. She experienced loss at a very young age when her mother passed away. Her father later remarried Antonia Juarez, who lovingly raised Lydia as her own. She grew up alongside her six brothers and one sister, surrounded by the strength and resilience of family.
Lydia spent her formative years in Iloilo City, where she pursued her education at Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus from elementary through college. It was there that she developed the values of hard work, faith, and perseverance that would guide her throughout her life.
As a young woman, Lydia moved to Manila to build a career in the insurance industry. It was also in Manila where she met Edmund Gavina, with whom she had four children. Though the marriage did not last, Lydia’s unwavering love and commitment to her children remained at the center of her life.
Determined to provide a better future for her family, Lydia made the courageous decision to move to the United States in search of greater opportunities. During this chapter of her life, she reconnected with a former colleague, Rodolfo O. Bautista. Their friendship grew into love, and they were eventually married.
Together, Lydia and Rodolfo built a life in Honolulu, Hawaii, where they spent 38 years creating a home filled with love, dedication, and shared dreams. Lydia’s life was a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and devotion—to her family, her work, and her faith.
She passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
She leaves behind her loving children: Maria Theresa (Rolando Jr.) del Rosario, Ian Jomo G. Gavina, Edmund (Karen) Gavina Jr., and Marie Grace G. Gavina. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jose Miguel G. Del Rosario, Maria Daniella G. del Rosario, Kaesha Angeline Gavina, Edmund Moises Gavina III, and Shanelle C. Gavina.
Lydia will be remembered for her strength, her selfless love, and the quiet grace with which she faced life’s challenges. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, often sharing their accomplishments with joy and pride. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and in the family she so deeply loved.
